Welcome to IAQ4EDU!

The GRIC research group welcomes you to our new project IAQ4EDU.

IAQ4EDU is a project born in September 2021 with the aim of optimizing ventilation strategies in educational centres taking into account indoor air quality, thermal comfort, energy use and global costs.

Its development is justified by recent studies that show how an adequate ventilation reduces the transmission of respiratory diseases. For this reason, in the midst of the pandemic and the reopening of schools, the importance of an adequate ventilation has become evident. Furthermore, natural ventilation is the predominant ventilation system in most schools so indoor air quality depends on the perception of the educational community. This can result in situations with low air quality or high energy use as a result of excessive ventilation.

Thus, IAQ4EDU is committed to develop optimal ventilation strategies that guarantee the proper development of educational activities together with adequate indoor air quality and thermal comfort, improving the well-being and health of occupants, in addition to their productivity and performance.
