The IAQ4EDU project has completed the first monitoring campaign in educational centres

The GRIC research group has completed the spring monitoring campaign and is now starting the summer monitoring campaign.

With the aim to optimize ventilation strategies in educational centres considering the indoor air quality, thermal comfort, energy use and global costs, the IAQ4EDU project monitors the indoor and outdoor environmental conditions of classrooms in Catalan educational centres.

The first monitoring campaign has been carried out this spring, during the months of March, April and May. 32 classrooms from 16 Catalan educational centres, representative of four climate zones (Barcelona metropolitan area, central plain area, mild coastal climate area and mountain area), have been monitored. In each climate zone, two schools and two high schools have been visited, monitoring the classrooms of P4 (4–5 years old), primary school 4th grade (9–10 years old), ESO 1st grade (12–13 years old) and ESO 4th grade (15–16 years old). The experimental campaign includes both naturally-ventilated and mechanically-ventilated buildings.

The summer monitoring campaign, which has started in June, is expected to last until September.
